Where NOT to stay in the Austin Metro Area
'The Inn' on US 79 in tAYLOR, TX - we found a used condom wrapper on the floor of our room upon check in (fortunately we didn't find any used CONDOMS (that we know of).
Check-in + they had NO towels and still we're charged !45! dollars (+ tax & key deposit) for a TOTAL FLEABAG (this place makes the Clayton House - which only charges 20 bucks a nite in Denton - look like the four seasons).
Anyway rob and slh stayed @ the La Quinta of Round Rock the next nite, WAY expensive but man worth it - heated pool, suana, in suite jacuzzi, fridge, micro, coffepot, continental breakfast, etc and like that, downside the La Quinta of which I speak is 1 mile south from a notorious rest area on I-35 crawling with creeps looking to hook up with other creeps.
Oh, AND THE SHOW: AUSTIN MUSIC HALL is in downtwn Austin about 30 blocks from I-35 (apparently acesible via city bus PRIOR to the show but not after) (found a coupon for Mr Gatti's Pizza on the back of my ticket stub).
AMH flaws: Shiner Bock only available in cans (no drafts), and on the bar menu they have listed 20 oz cocktails for $7.25, but they DONT sell 'em (instead they sell you 10 oz for 5.25 - do the math.
I say BY GOD IF THE ITEM IS NOT FOR SALE THEN DONT PUT It on THE MENU!
Kick ass bbq Austin, TX (over the road division)
The GREEN MESQUITE in AUSTIN, TX: great 'cue, good service (portions a lil small for the $ tho)
and Shiner Bock on TAP! (pitcher $6/50).
Green Mesquite website + real dp unlike Colter's (mr pibb yech).
Green Mesquite BBQ is 3 miles west of I-35 on Baron Springs Rd (at Lamar) (ctibus service during the day) (worth a trip inta town fer if yer hitchin thru) (Shiner Bock RULES!).

Went to the AUSTIN Music Hall at 208 Nueces (accesible via citibus BEFORE shows (but not after).
Separate info, concert venue MEMPHIS - ORPHEUM.
Main & Beale downtown Memphis acceesible via transit BEFORE shows on weekdays.
P.S. Orpeheum is BEAUTIFUL inside! - lr
Final note re Austin Music Hall: the Shiner Bock is $3.50 a CAN (no drafts!) and they advertise 20 oz cocktails on the menu for $7.50 but in reality they don't sell them - they make you buy 2 drinks for 25 % more $ - SHAME SHAME SHAME!
I think you shouldn't advertise it if you don't sell it! - lr
