State motto: "got nugs?"

Awrite, mebbe I'm being a little cynical but it seems like Oregon is just LOADED w/slow lane granola types that think the place is a paradise & live solely by collecting cans and selling pot...
That and hitchiking thru Oregon is like swimming thru jello - you can get
anywhere you want to IN the state but nobody wants to go across any of the state lines...
So you invariablty wind up either taking the #5 interstate bus up to Vancouver, WA or walking down Mt. Ashland to California (which takes as long as waiting for a ride on the south bound exit...)
ENDORSEMENT DEPT: Grants Pass/Cave Jct./ Brookings "Wild River Brewing & Pizza Co." - handmade beer & pizza reasonable prices & real dr.pepper, try the "bait bucket pizza" (don't ask...)
BROOKINGS: the A&W burger joint - go inside, you have to see it to believe it...cheap too & that frosty mug taste and/or dr.pepper.
Directly across from the Bend River Mall in 'BEND' is THE WORLD'S CHEAPEST
MONGOLIAN bbq buffet $4.95 + NO sales TAX IN OREGON and I believe they serve dr.pepper.
YUMMMMM!!!!!!!!
THE Taco Time on Gateway Rd in (Springfield) (the only Taco Time I know of that serves dr.pepper). Eugenes's twin town & home of 'the simpsons cartoon
characters'
P.S. Gateway Rd is THE key exit for northbound I-5 Eugene metro area travel. For South go to 'lane community college take the bus - 85 cents...
NEWPORT (hwy 101 @ hwy 20)
The Pip-Tide restaurant old town Newport (blackjack upstairs - no cameras, counting is discouraged but not illegal. Blackjack was grandfathered in w/statehood as "social gambling".)
The Rogue brewery next door to the Oregon coast aquarium.
Off season - the Sands motel is the best one $24.95 appointed like a 1 bedroom apt on-site laundry (next to Wendy's and Artic Circle)
Other hotels are cheaper in summer but rarely more than 39 dollars...
Campground on north side of Bend has cheap private showers...and get this, the Oregon lottery has legal football betting during the pro season...
Also "The Oregonian" is 35 cents - available statewide 7 Crescent City, Ca and
caries 'over the hedge' ( my favorite strip ).
COOLNESS: 35
Avg crossing time in a flash to the towns on the state lines & then a day to get across - crank flows thruout the rural towns esp. MEDFORD so be aware of your surroundings...
And if it takes a while to get out of SALEM or PENDLETON 's 'cause thet's where they keep looney bins and prisons...
's why...
good luck...
One other endorsement: my friend Chris in Eugene makes superkind handmade
drums - he lives in Eugene. As soon as Dead Net is back up running, look in the "marketplace" folder under handmade drums (I lost the hard copy
info).
DNC up so heres' his info:
"chris"
978 W. 3rd
Eugene,OR 97401
(541) 343-1564
He's a cool kid and he gave me a ride from upstate N.York to Boston - & he let me crash his pad at the last Eugene Ratdog show (c'uz you helped us fix the (VW) van when the (accelerator) cable snapped, bro...)
He's a good kid but I always starve to death around him 'cuz he's a supervegan snowboardin' drummin' mellow kinda guy...
Chris's personal motto: 'FAITH'
Most useful Oregon url: (Portland bus system)
Helpful hints: Newport bound from Portland #12 Barbur to King City.
South I-5 12 to Tigard or 96 to 'Taulatin' then walk two miles south on I-5
past the Tualatin K-mart and the traffic loop (ok to walk on interstate in
Oregon (except Portland) - and when you see how narrow the hiway is there you'll definitely want to take a bus.)
(All day pass on Tri-Met $3.25)
Single fare (multidirectional timed transfer $1.30 max)
Downtown core - fareless.
General public internet available at Multnomah County library downtown Portland, temporary building near PSU on #5 bus-line.
Utter bullshit internet policy: Eugene's cardholder's only; traveler's not allowed to acess it; resticted hrs, and goony librarians. I waited 3 hrs for the internet room at the Eugene library to open just to be told I couldn't use it 'cuz I didn't live in Eugene
A "diverse and inclusive" community.
How come these really granola towns are always so uptight whenever you want to access a federal taxpayer funded FEDERAL program? (library inernet grants?)
The 'uptight' towns like Denver, S Jose , Portland, & Kalamazoo let you use it but the "celebration of diversity ' towns like Eugene & Boulder & what have you make it as dificult as possible?
Re-opened main library in PORTLAND lousy w/'net access and a Starbucks in the lobby (reallY!) 10th and Yamhill (on every bus line and light rail track - near Pioneer Square.
The Portland library has made their intention to block cgi's (60% of websites have text entry fields for the user)
(AS SOON AS THE TECHNOLOGY BECOMES AVAILABLE)
Very Clear...
?? this from a library w/a Starbucks on the first floor ???????????
Sigh...hey whatsa li'l censorship of ideas between taxpayers?
