Motto: Yes sir, we are going to search the car and
No sir, there is nothing you can do about it...

Side note to 'Brandy of Port Clinton'
It's taking me awhile but the 40 bucks is on it's way.,,patience please...
And remember: "war is the ultimate act of cowardice".
MAN, Ohio is one royal pain in the ass to travel thru whether you drive (TICKET W / YOUR NAME ON IT GuaRANTEED!)
or hitchike (cops in your face that always want financial info - soc sec #).
Even Greyhound / Amtrak is a pain in the ass - 6 hr layover in the WORST
neighborhood in Cleveland (not like they have a good one).
But it's the way to everywhere else from everywhere else so you are generally forced thru...
Secondly, the accent is a tad indecipherable to people from other areas so you have to ask peole to spell what they said sometimes (esp around Columbus) for the Buffalo bus!
Anyhoo you definitely can't walk on any interstates (and 1/2 the other roads).
Basically expect reasonably friendly citizenry (except for the cops and
Cincinatti - but waddya expect from a town that ruins chili w/beans and noodles anyhoo...
True story - outside Columbus one day guy picks me up and says 'hey man, I just
bought 5 lottery tickets, scratch one if it hits we'll split it...'
The only winning Ohio lottery ticket I have ever hit - 20 bucks!
It's damn near impossible to get from Sandusky to P. Clinton hitchiking but I have done it.
(Ohio hwy 2) thru Elyria from Cleveland
I recommend using the turnpike behind the signs & service plazas. Expect police conversations at a minimum...
THIS is USEFUL: the service plaza just outside RICHFIELD (just west of exit 11) on the *westbound* side...has free showers around back in the truck lot b.y.o. towel...
They also have a tv set in their mickey d's...an eastbound plaza near the
Indiana line also has one...
Rob's Ohio places he likes
Dairy Mart
Jimmies Gotcha in Marblehead on labor day weekend Lobsterfest - 10 dollar
lobster dinner served by "Psycho Pete the crazy chef"
Cedar Point amusement park Sandusky the only amusement park I know of that
lets you drink Genesee draft beer while in line for the rides...
The indiana state line.
The Kentucky line.
Erie, PA.
Wheeling, W.VA.
Pittsburgh, PA. You get the picture.
CONCERT VENUES: Polaris Ampitheatre; one side of Columbus barely mass transit accessible.
Buckeye Lake Music Center. East of the place, you should hitch from the
Pickerington exit on the east side of Columbus - the "Wendy's exit".
You will PROBABLY get dropped off at Alum Rock Rd in Columbus - this exit sucks & it's a crack 'hood - just thought I'd tell ya. Chance a ticket & walk...
Any way it's between the 'target enforcement area' signs.
BLOSSOM: closer to Kent than Cleveland.
There are others too, but too many to name.
And y'know I really don't like White Castle all that much. (Cleveland blasphemy...)
coolness 1 (for Brandy)
p.s fine Ohio wines are AWFUL *ick*
the Amish chese is good tho...
avg crossing time: expect to spend the nite at least once in a while in
Ohio - it's bigger than it looks on the map...
also, Ohio is definitely a place where a CB will save your ass & 12 hrs time...
no foolin'
hiya "coffee stain"
and try to get dropped off at exits w/SERVICES on them...
