State motto: "Never draw to an inside straight."

Oh man, oh man, do I love Nevada. It's gloriously tacky without being gauche and the possibility of walking away wealthy is always a spin away...
(hint dime machines are a tad looser- but they're also a little hard to find 'cuz people don't really like handling dimes cuz they're so small.)
AND Y'KNOW WHAT'S REALLY COOL: SLOT MACHINES TAKE LARGE BILLS NOW, YOU DON'T
EVEN HAFTA GET CHANGE ANYMORE + IF YOU PUT SAY, A $20 IN SAY, A NICKEL MACHINE - THE COMPUTER SENDS A COCKTAIL WAITRESS RIGHT OVER...
SO I PUT IN A TWENTY, GET MY FREE MARGARITA AND PROMPTLY CASH OUT AND PLAY WHAT I ORIGINALLY INTENDED TO IN THE FIRST PLACE, WHICH WAS LIKE 5 OR 6 BUCKS AT THE MOST...
(eventually they'll perfect the software so it synthesizes a flushing sound when you put that bill in but not yet..:)
Folks the odds are more or less the same state wide so I'm gonna just tell ya where the best deals hide...
1 TRUCK INN in FERNLEY (on I-80) east of Reno about 40 miles cheap rooms/free pepsi and popcorn in the Nevada nickels room (across the coffee shop, nowhere near the bar...)
Plus they have some neato new digital machines for 5 cents. I personally like the one that has a randomised horse racing simualcrum on-screen. It has a pretty good payout, too + if you want to learn table games rules, it's a great teacher and you might win a few bucks...
Not only that Truck Inn has a 5 egg full breakfast for like 2 bucks in the mornings and if you get picked up by the right truck driver you might score a free room coupon. Truck Inn gives truck drivers a free room w/every 5th fueling... (and not every truck driver has the time to use the coupons...) Plus a $1.00 minimum blackjack table and a no-house player poker table (house rake 15%). It's kinda hard to get a game up tho, + personally, I don't understand modern poker other than the video kind...
The Truck Inn has no dr.pepper but the convenience store across the street does and they have coupons for free beer & a roll of nickels @ the casino in Winemucca across from the Maverick convenience store...
(which is a pretty good convenience store, except whatdafuxk IS dr.slice soda anyhoo? and why is it right next to the dr.pepper tap where you could easily confuse the two..?)
While it's not illegal to walk on the interstate in rural Nevada (Reno/Sparks and Vegas all have ordinances), It is illegal to SIGNAL w/thumb. So, in the words of the state trooper "If you see my car put your thumb down and I'll leave you alone..."
(Good Cop: state trooper I saw in Sparks who blocked a lane w/his squad car to get a li'l scared puppy out of the hiway...)
THE best SLOT casino in VEGAS: HOLY COW BREWERY on SAHARA AND THE STRIP. BUY 10 dollars worth of change and you get a FREE HANDBREWED BEER! RAH!RAH! (Only a couple of nickel machines, but they're the new choose your game kind and they have a blackjack program).
WENDOVER: even though Silver/Smithy Stateline has friendlier employees, PEPPERMILL has a better buffet (crab legs!) $8.95 but worth it...
CHEAP & filling: CIRCUS CIRCUS BUFFET RENO/VEGAS.
NOT AS GOOD AS I HOPED IT WOULD BE, BUT UNDER 7 BUCKS: "Virgin River Buffet" in Mesquite I-15 AZ/NV line.
Cheap rooms, too.
Mesquite cops are sorta dickheads tho...
GOOD EXITS: southbound I-15 (Vegas) TROPICANA RD.
Northbound I-15 (Vegas) CHEYENNE RD - you can chance going on the hiway here
tho, you shouldn't be bothered. Also you can take a cat bus to both these exits.
(TOWARD LAUGHLINBULLHEADS CITY TAKE THE BUS TO BOULDER and go from there...)
FARE $1.00 - $1.50 on the strip, free transfers...
LAUNDROMATS ABOUND IN VEGAS...
I-80 WEST from Reno: KEYSTONE AV or any exit west (you can chance walking here too...)
EAST EXITS #18 (ramp-only).
EXIT #22 (HIWAY USUALLY OK...)
"Chucker" always stays @ the 'Hotel Algiers' in the heart of the strip across from the Ripley's believe it or not museum... (oh yeah wet & wild is 20 bucks but worth it sometimes...)
BEST RACE/sports BOOK: Circus Circus + they have that mechanical toy horse racing slot machine called Sigma Derby to pass the time between races...
HEY put 5 bucks on the Cubs to win the world series for me while yer there
wouldja..?
The final word on Nevada from your old uncle rob is "Slots of Fun".
They are the satelllite casino for Circus Circus (strip&Sahara) in Vegas and they have $1.00 blackjack/75 cent import bottles and, free popcorn & 99 cent footlong dogs and shrimp cocktails. Plus, Dr.Pepper at the snack bar (a rarity among casinos - the only other casino I
know of that even has it is the Subway restaurant in the basement of the Reno Hilton (don't ask me how I know this, it's too weird a story...)
STARDUST also has a clean QUIET racebook, and some casino on the strip serves 24 oz margaritas for 99 cents and they're STRONG!
avg crossing times: usually never more than a full days sun or a full nites
dark and the exits are all brightly lit...(this is a +)
COOLNESS 42!
Next: New Hampshire and a saltbox house or two...
