Port Jervis is far north suburban New York (near Pennsylvania line) & an E-West interstate (I-84 I THINK). Trenton connects w/Philly's "septic"...I mean SEPTA commuter rail system (remember train tickets are ALWAYS cheaper when bought in station & not from conductor...)

Trust me, if you have 14 dollars or more on you at any point between NYC Philly and Atlantic City this is the easiest way to go
It's tough to get a ride in Jersey even at service areas and spots that are legal to stand at in other states aren't there, plus, you wind up in a lot of rough neighborhoods.
Kids, the buses and trains run 18 hrs a day - use 'em, save yourself the headaches.

P.S. if you want to go to Meadowlands sports complex in E.Rutherford Giants Stadium and it's not rushour, you have to get off in Seacaucus & walk.
By the way, its a 10 dollar cab ride and it's only a mile and a half...(the Tijuana syndrome)
Should you opt (or have to) hitchike 25 cent long distance phone calls available at "the Sandman truck stop" on the NJ turnpike.
And MEADOWLANDS is EXIT 11.

I also got a ride to Jersey from a Vegetarian Libertarian Arizonan truck driver who hadn't been home in 364 days - that's how busy his company ("******** Moving Lines) was at the time.
And I got drafted to work. Oh well, I needed the money...THANX Man...

TRAIN: 3 hrs
HITCH: TOTAL CRAPSHOOT
Even w/a ride, if NYC bridges and tunnels are fucked up it could take HOURS!!!
Actually took 4 hrs to get across G. Washngton bridge once..!
