Actually I'm being a touch sarcastic.

The only REALLY annoying experience I've had in Michigan was the Detroit Greyhound station which is actually safer than it looks like...

Detroit's also the only place I have ever been LEGALLY let into Canada (at the Windsor tunnel) - and I was remarkably inebriated - under the influence of all kinds of stuff legal and otherwise at the time - 'sfunny they never let me in when I'm SOBER! - go figure...

In a nutshell:
It is illegal to walk on the interstate in Mich but you are rarely bothered and if you stick to the outer suburbs in the Detroit metro area, you'll get a ride fairly quickly
Beer & soda bottle are worth 10cents - that adds up FAST.
A good convenience store in the area is called "Starvin' Marvin/or Speedway" - sometimes both...

BIG PLaces: PINE KNOB: I-75 - Clarkston.
Palace - ditto - Auburn Hills.
Silverdome - ditto - Pontiac.
D. race course - outskirts Livonia.
Kalamazoo State Theatre: downtown K-zoo also internet access in library one block away...(FREE).

avg crossing time: 6-8 hrs e-w
4-6 n-s to I-94
Unknown to the north woods...
And, oh yeah, prepare yourself to hear a lotta huntin' and fishin' stories

And if "Jackson" takes a while to leave, it's cuz it's the prison town...But you'll get out eventually..:)
(Only 'vette ride I EVER got was in Jackson Mich..."B-4" record co exec...
Go figure...
