MOTTO: May I have a Mclobster please?
That's true - I sweartagod in Maine Mcdonald's serves lobsterburgers...(really)

I don't have much time and here's what I do know that's relevant:
YES it's illegal to walk on I-95 (Maine's ONLY interstate (also it's only toll
road 'til Augusta))
Greyhound / Vermont buslines don't go to "Old Orchard Beach" - where Maine has
concerts - on I-95 about 30 mile north of Portsmouth, NH. Hitch from that exit, you'll do fine. Since it's on a state line, the cops won't bother you and NH
cops are pretty mellow anyhoo - they know you'll be gone in 5 minutes...
Oh yeah, what Maine has in common w/Louisana - "ACADIANS" (cajuns).
Its' part of the region they're from.
Someone from Maine who's picked me up hitchiking in the Carolinas: The owner of the "SUNDAY RIVER BREWING CO" in BETHEL- I've never been there either - look it up on infoseek...(he gave me a 24 oz bottle of beer too:)!
You can sneak into NEW Brunswick, Canada via "HOULTON" if you are:
A: careful
B: do it at night
C: watch for the dogs in the lumberyard
NEW Brunswick is predominately French so by only speaking english you'll throw
the cops off...They won't wanna deal w/you (tell 'em yer from Nova Scotia...).
And remember, CANADA = social INSURANCE number, not social SECURITY. Also the
pattern is ***-***-*** not ***-**-****.
(If claimin', got to be from a maritme / east coast province, use a number starting with "0".
Remember, you had the # issued at "Employment Canada" - not that I would ever
advocate lying to a police officer..;)
Ooops, in Canada they are CONSTABLES - forgot to tell you that ;)
At the Houlton crossing you're only about 3-4 miles from the trans - Canada hiway
and at that point you're golden.
(Canada has no secondary border patrol - and they're unarmed, so your safety is
never compromised if by chance you DO get caught).
Not that I would EVER advocate bypassing customs...;)
Say hi to Chris Oland if he picks you up in N. Brunswick...
Finally, a good LOCAL potato chip is "Humpty Dumpty" - using 'Maine potatoes'.
Cheap, too.
And don't forget to try "Moxie" soda - it's definitely not for every body, but
Mainer's like it...
It's cheap, too.
And get this - Maine has REALLY low prices on CHEESE for some reason...
Oh well, I like cheese...
Not much in the way of public transport - besides, why bother when it's so easy to catch a ride...
And, oh yeah, Maines' bottle law includes Juice, Snapple and Gatorade bottles.
So if on a ramp for awhile...
coolness: 36-24 for skeeters = 12...
avg crossing time from Canada to N.Hampshire on I-95:
16hrs to a day and a half...
end o message...
