State Motto: "I pahked the cah by Hahvahd Yahd"
or: "NORM!"

Actually, the bar "Cheers" is based on is in downtown Boston at 93 BEACON in the "Beacon Hill neighborhoood" - you can get there via the "T" subway which costs from 85 cents to $2.00 depending on where you're standing at the time.
OTHER POINTS OF INTEREST IN BOSTON: FLEET CENTER (BOSTON GARDEN) South
Station (subway/commuter rail). Commuter rail in Mass is usually under 5 dollars but rush hour only, especially to Providence R.I...
Better to try hitching or go on a CLEAN SAFE CHEAP PETER PAN TRAILWAYS BUS (some even have MOVIES). They are ALWAYS LOWER PRICED THAN GREYHOUND and since they target business travelers and off peak commuters from CT and NYC, screaming children are virtually
nonexistent - they leave the big new multicompany bus station Boston just built - you'll see it if you go downtown at all.
A really good starting point for eastbound I-90 (Mass.Pike) ramp is near a subway / surface station on the GREEN LINE Rt "D" out past Fenway Park in NEWTON (it's a Peter Pan stop too if you get desperate).
Just stay about 300 feet from the toll booth w/a "west" sign on the guardrail and you shouldn't be bothered.
BUT DON"T GO ON THE INTERSTATE OR TURNPIKE IN MASS - you have been warned and the
state police uses the pike to train rookies...and all the *CRAP* that entails...
Not only that, they use *really* nondescript unmarked cars in totally non-cop colors like *YELLOW*!
Lotsa Mustangs and Pontiacs tho...not Firebirds or T.A.s either - family coupes
etc...
SUFFOLK DOWNS RACETRACK: Blue Line subway.
GREAT WOODS AMPITHEATRE: I know I warned ya not ta do this but to get there yer
probly gonna have to chance walking on the interstate.
It (Great Woods) is out on the I-395 spur that goes to Rhode Island.
I can't for the life of me remember the name of the town, but if you get to the 395/90 jct outside
Worcester (wooster) yer doin' OK a little bit but in the suburban areas you should catch a ride fairly quickly.
Try to be in 'Braintree' for southbound and if you *can* take a Vermont bus up to N.Hamphsire for northbound...
WAUPATUCK STATE PARK subway to Quincy bus +/- 3mile walk.
LIKELY ENCOUNTERS: 1/2 drunk yuppies going to Cape Cod.
A FEW too many cops...
TRUCK DRIVERS THAT YOU WOULD NEVER EXPECT RIDES FROM GIVING THEM TO
YOU: FURNITURE? POTATO CHIP? BREAD? MILK etc - all short haul but IMPORTANT short
hauls like Connecticut or Vermont.
The chip guys always give way a bag o' chips too for some reason - it's how they
pay their tolls ;)
A GOOD CHEAP SHOWER (and the New York Daily News at city price)! AVAILABLE AT THE TRUCK STOP ON I-90 at the N.Y state line (1 ft. inside N.York)...'s also a good hitching ramp because the cops don't wanna dick w/anybody on a state line.
KINDA HARD TO GET THRU BUT COURAGE YOU'll make it: SPRINGFIELD (also Peter Pan hub which is why they go there first on the way to NYC & Hartford)...
And oh yeah, it's along I-90 I wanna say 'Lee', it's called "Dr.Deegan's". Imported beer and a DOZEN mushroom stuffed clams for UNDER 4 bux...WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yeah, it's definitely the "Lee" exit now that I think about it.
2 final notes: you can generally get away w/hitching from service plaza to
service plaza once you are in the system on I-90.
And your avg crossing time shouldn't be more than about 12hrs n-s or 3-4 e-w
Stick to interstates if you can - Rt 2 is kinda sketchy and goes thru a prison town...
toal coolness 100 - 75 for Boston Police dept's piggish behavior during rock
concerts @ the garden...
