State motto: "I KNEW I shoulda bet on that other horse!"

This particular chapter isn't gonna be too long 'cuz I've only ever went thru KY
on I-65 & 75.
But here's what I DO know
There are signs saying you can't walk on the hiway but the cops don't bother
you unless you're obviously being stupid.
A LOT of the exits are lit: the hiway IS kinda old tho and has a lot of
on-ramps w/no shoulders - even in rural areas - so you kinda get forced out on
to the mainline of the interstate (the cops understand this).
Like Iowa, the lottery sells 25 cent tickets..:)
And the most interesting place on earth other than a Dead show in the first weekend in May is Louisville (KY DERBY - IT COSTS 20 DOLLARS TO GET IN BUT IT"S WORTH IT).
Louisville is also home to Mr.Gatti's pizza (the best pizza in town - honest) (in the red wastes of my youth I worked for their busiest store in TX and they are pretty good and have a reasonably priced buffet, big screen TV and dr.pepper refills :).
LOUISVILLE also is tied w/Bellingham, WA for having the lowest citibus fare
in the nation (other than free).
To go north into Indy take either the rushour Jeffersonville bus or just walk (the good Indy on-ramp is about 4 miles north in Indiana (Cementville - I believe)).
I-71 leads up into Ohio via Cincinatti but I've never went that way so the
only thing I can tell you is most Ohio cops are dicks...
(Personally, any city that puts spaghetti in chili
(Cincy) needs an enema anyway, in my opinion).
However, all in all KY is friendly.
They make Jim Beam there - that might be one of the reasons why
they are a COMMONWEALTH not a STATE, so police have more powers than most
places - scanners illegal - tighter pot laws - searches that would be illegal
elsewhere - and yeah, you can lose a car if they find grass...
TRUE STORY: a guy I know made change for somebody else at a rock concert.
He didn't know the other guy was buying drugs from somebody - 2 cops saw it
happen and he did 9 mos. in Jeffco jail for "facilitating a criminal act".
They also seized his van under RICO laws.
The last we saw it was being used as a D.A.R.E vehicle (his van was the
kind they needed but didn't have the money to buy...)
So be careful w/pot
and enjoy the derby...:)
P.S. ALWAYS bet on the white horse - it can't hurt...(besides they're easier to see in the backfield...)
Coolness: people 50
Cops 20 (pot laws)
70 out of 100
Average crossing time: 3-5 n-s (e-w unknown).
