State Motto:
Just what the #$%&! IS a 'hoosier' anyhoo?

To answer the first two ?questions?:
YES, Deer Creek is a heluva long way from the nearest bus stop.
And YES, you can hitch to Chicago from Indy faster than taking the bus across
town to the airport and flying there would take...
IF traveling west from Indy, take an airport bus and walk out by the 465-70
junction.
You should catch a ride within 30 minutes and if a cop says anything
you can say you 'got dropped off' at an interstate junction. Where else COULD
you have gone at that point?
People in Indiana are generally pretty friendly. You can usually catch a ride in about 45 minutes and Indiana law sez that ONLY state troopers can stop on the interstate...(local yokels can stop on on-ramps tho.)
It's everywhere in Indiana 'steak & shake'. Good, but they put beans in the
chili (if you order REAL chili tho, they keep a stash...).
No dr.pepper, but no mr.pibb and REAL SHAKES + the burgers are fresh ground...
It's a really crappy place to stay but it's cheap - 'Dollar Inn'.
The Post Rd 7-11 serves mr.pibb (TRAITORS!) so don't go there.
Good LOCAL market 'Marsh's'.
To hitch east on I-70 1st get to Post Rd.
2nd get out to 'Mt.Comfort'.
There is a big truckstop there - it's the one w/Grandma's Kitchen.
Northbound out of Noblesville / Deer Creek area-(I-69) use the PILOT truck stop
exit.
If you're up on the Indiana Toll Rd go from service plaza to service plaza.
Don't take ANY exits. Once you are in the Toll Rd, if you're at service plaza
you won't be bothered - don't bother the workers tho, and just wait by the
on - ramp to the hiway.
Don't vocally ask anybody stopped for gas or food, this
is an EXCELLENT EXAMPLE of where a hand-held CB radio comes in handy...
True fact dept: more multistate *POWERBALL* lottery tickets hit in Indiana than
any other state...(it can't hurt...:)
Going southbound on I-65 is kinda tough, try to get to a suburb called
'Greenville' and work from there... (the city bus does go to Greenville but NOT
MUCH), (DITTO POST RD).
To go southbound toward Indy out of Chicago start at the 'Lincoln Oasis' in
Calumet City, IL - you can generally get a ride to the I-65 turn off. Stick to
80 (or 94 for Michigan) (unless you're going straight thru to Cleveland). 90
goes thru some HAIRY spots, plus it's a ten mile walk to good spots out of
Gary / Hammond.
And if you don't get tagged by the cops it's an EXCELLENT place to catch a ride.
One other REALLY good spot:
RICHMOND (Ohio border) - stay on the Indiana side to minimize police encounters (truck stop nearby - helpful).
But do watch for this closet case that's older than dirt and has way too much
time on his hands who cruises out from NYC on a weekly basis - 4dr Lincoln, fat, leg braces - can't get laid in NYC!
N YORK plates...(he circles from NYC to Richmond, Indiana), (wonder why all the closets I meet look like jabba the hutt? - lr).
Avg xing= e-w 4-6
n-s 6-10
Anyway - smell that, it's OPPORTUNITY, no it's IOWA!
See ya there.
Indiana coolness rating: 54
(Hey, Quayle may be a goof but he seems like an honest goof...)
And his newpapers in Indy and Phx didn't censor "Doonesbury' strips critical of
his alleged pot dealing.
So at least as a publisher he seems to have some integrity..:)
